Girls und Panzer

Girls und Panzer#1

Nishizumi Miho  wanted to attend a school that didn’t offer Tankery. First of all, what school has such such a dangerous class. Why not tea, pottery or cooking class? I can kinda understand why she doesn’t want to go to a school with Tankery. So, she starts off her first day of school at Oarai High School.

On her first day she makes two wonderful friends Takebe Saori and Isuzu Hana.

She was enjoying her first day of school until she gets paid a visit by the student council. The student council tells Miho that she needs to pick Tankery as a elective this year.

Tankery? But Miho specifically came to this school because it didn’t offer Tankery or so she thought. Apparently the school decided to bring  back Tankery this year and they have a school assembly to show off how great Tankery is. How Tankery can make a girl a better wife, a hard worker, a better women. That every man would fall for a girl that takes Tankery.  That is a whole bunch of BS but the girls are so naive they fall for it. Well every girl expect for Miho. Miho refuses to take Tankery even though her friends want to do it with her. Her refusal may have something to do with the flashbacks in the episode of someone drowning. Its possible she had a bad experience while training in Tankery one day and now she is traumatized.

When the student council finds out she has refused to take Tankery they start making threats about getting Miho kicked out the school if she doesn’t. But with her friends beside her, they planned to fight for her till the very end.

Miho sees how hard her friends will fight to keep her happy and decides to do the same for them. She puts the past behind her and steps forward into her new future. Her future with new her friends and Tankery.

Zetsuen no Tempest

Zetsuen no Tempest #1

Kusaribe Hakaze crawls out a barrel that has washed out on a beach.

I don’t know how she got there or where she came from but I’d hate to be her. Not only was she in a barrel but she is now stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere.

She blames her situation on this guy named Samon.

It seems that Hakaze and Samon have some bad history between them. As the episode moves on we are introduced to this guy named Yoshino. He seems to be having some trust problems because he mentions a promise over and over again. “How much weight does a promise carry” he says. What promise? Did he make a promise to his girlfriend? Did he break a promise that has been bothering him since childhood? But he seems to have more problems than some stupid promise. A women named Fraulein Yamamoto-san confronts him at the cemetery on his way from  school claiming she wasn’t a “shady character”. She most take this guy as a fool if she thinks just because she says she is not a shady character that he is actually going to believe her, especially if she has a gun.

She starts making threats and asking if he knew a guy by the name of Fuwa Mahiro.

Apparently, Mahiro and Yoshino go way back and were best friends until he mysteriously disappeared after his sister’s death. Then these butterflies come out of no where. I have no idea what  the butterflies are for or where they came from but I think they have to do with some type of Magic. Because Mahiro swoops in out of nowhere and beats this lady’s face in, literally.

Maybe he rode on a magical giant butterfly? (But that would be kind of lame). Mahiro came across this bottle that was washed up on a beach while he was gone. Inside was a doll, a piece of wood and a message (The old message in the bottle).  By hammering a nail in the doll, he traded his soul for a wish to be granted. (Dolls and souls sounds familiar…makes me think of Hell Girl. Expect now one is going to hell.)

Mahiro wishes that he could find the person who killed his sister and the one to grant his wish is Hakaze, the girl in the barrel. Hakaze is apparently the most powerful mage known to man.

So now Mahiro is a mage and he has to help Hakaze stop whatever the “The Family” is trying to summon.  “The Family” has been spreading an infectious disease called Black Iron Syndrome.

The people in the city start to metallicize, a physic phenomenon that turns organic life into metal.

“The Family” is trying to gain enough power to awaken this powerful being.

What is this powerful being, what power does it hold and why must it be stopped? Their only hope is stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere.

From The New World

Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World) #1

Watanabe Saki isn’t like normal people but she is special because she has the power of Telekinesis.

She has finally graduated Harmony Elementary school. In the episode she goes through a ceremony at the Temple of purification to complete her graduation. She now is attending a new school with all her friends who share the same power she has and is apart of the unified class.

 Akizuki Maria

 Aonuma Shun

 Asahina Satoru

Good thing too or she may have been like all the other students who vanished  mysteriously because they didn’t graduate. Rumors are saying that it is the doing of the Trickster cat/Impure Cat that comes and takes your soul but those are just rumors, right? Although this episode leaves you a bit confused I am sure it all make sense soon.

My Little Monster

My Little Monster #1

Mizutani Shizuku devotes her time each day to studying so she can have the top scores in school. Shizuku tries to keep to herself and avoid any unnecessary communication.

But this top of the class student just may have found the one person who will bring liveliness to her boring life. That person is Yoshida Haru, an intimidating guy who loves to pick a fight. Although he can take a punch he is also pretty dense.

Haru had been suspended from school because her got into a nasty fight with the upperclassmen. Shizuku was just supposed to give him a couple handouts from school but ended up making a new friend in the process.  Haru claims her as his new friend and starts following her around. He even starts going back to school just to be next to her. As the two spend more time with each other confessions arise and new feelings are discovered. Shizuku starts to notice that Haru might not be as bad as everyone thinks he is.

All New Hayate No Gotoku!

Hayate No Gotoku! Can’t Take My Eyes Off You #1

The episode begins off with Nagi in the desert in the middle of nowhere. She calls out for Hayate but she remembers that he won’t come because he is no longer her butler. A nice foreshadow that keeps you wandering through the whole episode “What Happened”. Then it goes back to present time, Hayate is trying to wake up Nagi. If you seen the previous seasons you know that Nagi’s #1 characteristic is her laziness. After Nagi wakes up the episode takes some interesting turns. Mari gets a phone call from the Nevada police department about Nagi’s father. Ironically, Nagi is also kidnapped again like she was in beginning of season 1. Hayate encounters a girl and we find out she has a close relationship with someone he knows.

In this season there is also what seems like a female storyteller and she shows up quite a few times.

“Although the characters have gone through an artistic transformation, their personalities haven’t changed.”
